why he is here
"But Finn Wolfhard isn't a goth icon or anything-" I am well aware.
Finn Wolfhard is here because it's my website and I can do what I want. Deal with it.
Seriously though, a lot of who I am is because of my obsession with this man in my pre-teen years, and even up to now. So I thought it would only be fair to have him on my shrine page.
yes i know this is excessive. that's the point.
things i love about him
He looks like a crow. Look at him.
The dramatic staring.
The voice.
The absolutely unnecessary level of theatricality.
The fact that he never seems remotely in a hurry.
the archive
photographs i have decided are important.
songs that sound like he looks
Rooms on Fire - Stevie Nicks
Her Majesty - Takes 1-3 - The Beatles
The voice.
The absolutely unnecessary level of theatricality.
The fact that he never seems remotely in a hurry.
favorite scene
the first appearance
This is the part where Dracula enters and somehow manages to make standing in a doorway feel like a major theatrical event.
No rushing. No sparkle. No elaborate special effects. Just a cape, a stare and an extremely haunted-looking castle.
this is what i mean when i say i want vampires to be vampires.
quotes i keep thinking about
"I never drink... wine."
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make!"
obviously i had to put these here.
the outfit deserves a paragraph
Black cape. White shirt. Immaculate hair. Basically the blueprint.
There is something deeply funny about how seriously he commits to the entire look, which is also exactly why it works.
- cape — 10/10
- formalwear — 10/10
- hair — 10/10
- subtlety — absolutely none
random things from the crypt
- † Dracula premiered in 1931.
- † Bela Lugosi became strongly associated with the role of Dracula.
- † The film's visual style helped establish the classic Hollywood vampire aesthetic.
- † The cape remains completely iconic.
personal note:
I think the thing I like most is that this Dracula feels like a character who belongs to another world. He isn't trying to be relatable. He isn't trying to be cool. He just appears, stares at you, and ruins your evening.
perfect.
